How to Read the Scavland Map
The further you walk, the more the world wants you back as loot.
Scavland is not a raid playlist. It is a handcrafted surface with a world map, a dynamic minimap, and a rule the Steam page repeats: the further you travel from home, the more dangerous Zalesye becomes. This page is how to use that map without turning a job into a funeral. Pair it with Getting Started if you still have not left the scrapyard, and with survival before you cut a swamp corner.
There is no public complete atlas. Anyone selling a 100% pin dump before 4 September 2026 is guessing. What we can name is what press, store copy, and demo footage actually said.
Tools on the HUD
Early Access includes a dynamic minimap and a world map. Use them like a stalker, not like an open-world tourist:
- Open the world map before you leave town. Mark home. Mark the job. Mark a second road back.
- Watch the minimap for silhouettes you did not invite. The Life system still moves squads and creatures while you stare at the big map.
- Distance on a contract raises pay. It also raises the number of tiles that can kill the walk home. Jobs explains why far markers are a tax.
How to play covers the journal on J. The map is the other half of that notebook. If you cannot find a named place, ask an NPC before you draw a straight line through the Mist.
Places the public record actually names
- Scrapyard — tutorial start. Heal here. Do not romanticise it.
- Starting town / settlement — traders, Rada talk, Gunners in the social fabric. Your reset point. See factions and traders.
- Arcadia — west of town in demo dialogue, used as a pass on the way to Mudlarks.
- Dazbog Hollow — on the north-west walk toward Mudlark country.
- Mudlarks (northwest) — not a warm inn. Pack for a hostile welcome.
- Tdola — spoken of with corpses that need reporting.
- Lake Pavi — a destination you hear before you see.
- Factories — demo-era infiltration, named abominations nearby.
- Gunsmith and Anastasia Hospital — labels called out on the in-game map in public gameplay.
- Thresholds (south) — birthplaces of the Mist that suck life out of the continent. Not a day-one picnic.
- Highway RO-29 (east) — the road toward a promised land the story teases. Act I is the first region, not a finished east.
If a name is not on this list, do not invent a pin. When Early Access players confirm more, updates will carry the honest ones.
Surface versus hatch
The surface is authored. Roads, settlements, faction territories, and irradiated wetlands sit where the designers put them. Bunkers under that surface are procedural: rooms shuffle, armories move, unique enemies appear that do not belong on the road. A hatch is a dungeon entrance, not a fast-travel icon.
Mark the hatch on the world map before you go in. If you cannot walk the surface twice, you cannot afford a wipe underground.
Terrain that is also a trap
Automaton and other coverage describe radioactive water that slows you the deeper you wade. Some creatures refuse the water. Some chase anyway. The long road around a pond is usually cheaper than a clever corpse. Forests, abandoned buildings, and swamp are not biomes to collect. They are ammo budgets.
Night exists. Learn roads in daylight. Stealth is not invisibility just because the sprites got darker.
How far is too far
A beginner loop is a nearby job, not the south. Jobs pay more with distance because the walk is the content. Pack the starting loadout for a round trip. Turn around at the first serious bleed. The map will still be there tomorrow. Your medkit might not.
Console talk from the studio is PC first, then consoles after 1.0. Until then this map is a Steam PC map with controller and Steam Deck support. System requirements will not draw the roads for you.
Use the map to come home. That is the whole skill.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Is there a full Scavland map online?
No complete public atlas exists yet. This page lists named places from store copy, press, and demo footage. Confirm pins in your own save after 4 September 2026.
Does Scavland have a minimap?
Yes. Early Access includes a dynamic minimap and a world map. Mark a return path before you chase a far job.
Where are the Mudlarks?
Northwest of the starting town in demo dialogue, with routes via Arcadia and Dazbog Hollow. See factions.
Should I go south to a Threshold on day one?
No. Thresholds are tied to the Mist and sit in more dangerous country. Finish survival habits first.
