Scavland System Requirements
Low on paper. Still a 64-bit Windows PC game.
Scavland is a top-down pixel-art Unity game, and the Steam minimum looks almost polite. That is the point: NoShadow wanted the wasteland on modest PCs and handhelds. Polite is not “any device”. This page copies the public spec, then adds the caveats a Vulture actually needs. Confirm on Steam if a number moves. Pair this with Early Access before you pay.
Minimum (Steam)
- OS: Windows 10, 64-bit (64-bit OS required)
- CPU: Intel 2.77 GHz quad-core (or equivalent)
- RAM: 4 GB
- GPU: Dedicated graphics with 2 GB RAM, OpenGL 2.1 and GLSL 1.2 (generally 2012 or newer)
- Storage: 1 GB available space listed on the store
Recommended hardware is not filled in on public copies of the store page. Treat the minimum as “it boots”, not “bunkers stay pretty when fifty creatures move”. A developer post bragged about rendering 100+ creatures with little FPS cost after an optimisation pass. That is a goal, not your laptop’s personality.
Storage reality
SteamDB has shown a Windows depot around 1.09 GiB on disk with a large download. The store line of 1 GB is the legal minimum text. Leave extra space for Windows, Steam, and cloud saves. Saves live under %USERPROFILE%/AppData/LocalLow/NoShadow/Scavland as *.scav files, with Steam Cloud quotas in the gigabytes. You will not need that much on day one. You will need the folder to be writable.
CPU, RAM, and the Life system
4 GB RAM is 2012 thinking. Modern Windows already eats that. If you have 8 GB, you will have a better time. If you have 4 GB and a browser with 40 tabs, close the tabs. The Life system, squad spawns, and bunker generation are the spikes, not the pixel trees.
A 2.77 GHz quad-core is an old i5 conversation. Equivalents include many mid-range laptop chips from the last decade. If your CPU is dual-core or 32-bit, you are done. The game is 64-bit only. The executable name is Scavland.exe.
GPU and OpenGL 2.1
“Dedicated 2 GB, OpenGL 2.1” is a low bar and also a filter. Integrated graphics that fake dedicated memory can still fail. Handhelds with real GPUs (Steam Deck, Ally-class machines) are the intended cheap hardware, not a 2010 office PC with no GPU.
Pixel art does not mean zero fillrate. Lights, weather, and a hundred creatures still draw. If you play on a handheld, use the in-game settings once they exist, and do not chase 4K. The art is not for 4K glory. It is for readable sprites and a map you can parse.
Steam Deck and controllers
NoShadow designed inventory, looting, combat, and menus for controller and Deck. Full controller support, DualShock, DualSense, and Steam Input templates show up in the store metadata. Steam Deck compatibility on the store has been listed as unknown in some scrapes; that is Valve’s queue, not a studio insult. Treat Deck as intended hardware, then verify after 4 September 2026.
Keyboard players should still read controls. The verbs are the same. The buttons are not.
OS notes
Windows 10 64-bit is the line. Steam itself already requires Windows 10. There is no public Mac or Linux store launch. Proton may appear later from the community; it is not a promise on this wiki. The game uses Unity, FMOD, and related middleware. That usually ports. “Usually” is not a spec.
What this spec does not tell you
It does not tell you that hunger is a harder check than FPS. It does not tell you that a jam in a bunker feels worse at 20 FPS. It does not replace the beginner checklist. Meet the spec, then pack food.
If you fail the spec, wishlist and wait. If you pass, go to Getting Started. If you pass on a handheld, sit down, because the battery will still empty while you stare at the Mist.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
What are Scavland's minimum requirements?
Windows 10 64-bit, a 2.77 GHz quad-core CPU, 4 GB RAM, a 2 GB dedicated GPU with OpenGL 2.1, and about 1 GB listed storage. Confirm on Steam.
Does Scavland run on Steam Deck?
The studio said Early Access ships with full controller and Steam Deck support. Consoles wait until after 1.0. Official Deck verification can still lag, so test if you can refund.
Is there a Mac or Linux version?
Not as a listed Steam launch platform. Windows 64-bit is the advertised OS.
Why is the download bigger than 1 GB?
Store minimums are rounded. The Windows depot has been measured around 1.09 GiB. Leave extra disk space.
