Anomaly Scanner and Artifacts

Scavland includes a handheld Anomaly Scanner that detects spatial anomalies and rare artifacts in dangerous zones. This is not an optional quality-of-life tool. It is the primary method for finding high-value loot in irradiated and Mist-affected territory. This page is how the scanner works, what artifacts do, and how to extract with both.

What the Anomaly Scanner does

The scanner emits a signal that picks up spatial anomalies, which are often tied to artifact spawns in high-risk zones. Creator footage and press describe it as essential for anyone going deep into southern Zalesye, near Thresholds, or into radiation zones for rare items.

The scanner has a detection radius. The official description says it helps you detect spatial anomalies and extract rare artifacts. It does not make those zones safe. It tells you where to run toward or away from.

How to use it

  1. Equip the Anomaly Scanner in your inventory or hotbar
  2. Enter a hazardous zone (radiation, Mist, deep bunker)
  3. Watch the scanner readout for anomaly signals
  4. Approach confirmed anomaly locations carefully
  5. Extract before the scanner signal changes or the zone destabilises

The scanner is a tool, not a shield. Dense anomaly clusters can mean high-tier loot and high-tier threats in the same grid square. Combat still applies in anomaly territory.

Artifacts and what they are worth

Artifacts are rare items found in anomaly zones. They are not crafting components. They are valuable trade goods that traders buy at high prices. Some artifacts have mechanical effects in the world; the game does not list all of them publicly.

Artifact quality correlates with zone danger. The further south, the more Mist, the more radiation, the better the potential drop. That is also where the Mist and radiation mechanics are most punishing.

Artifact farming strategy

The other wiki’s field notes describe a practical method:

  1. Enter the zone with a working scanner, gas mask, radiation meds, and food
  2. Move systematically; do not sprint into anomaly clusters blind
  3. Mark anomaly locations on your map before engaging
  4. Extract after collecting; do not greed a second signal in an active zone
  5. Sell artifacts to appropriate faction traders for best prices

Rank and reputation affect which traders stock high-value items and buy artifacts at better margins. A higher standing with a faction that values artifacts can mean the difference between funding one run and funding three.

Combining scanner and survival habits

Scanner runs are not separate from survival. They are survival under pressure:

  • Gas mask filters degrade faster in Mist zones
  • Radiation meds are not optional in contaminated territory
  • Food and stamina management matter more when the exit is not obvious
  • Getting Started habits apply; scanner runs are advanced sessions, not beginner loops

The Mist page covers the specific hazard. This page is the tool knowledge. The tool is only useful if you walk out alive.

What Early Access still hides

NoShadow has not published a complete artifact list publicly. This wiki will add confirmed artifacts as players screenshot them. Until then, treat the scanner as the method, not the inventory. Extract with what you can carry, not what you hoped to find.

Early Access is live. Updates will carry artifact confirmations. Traders will show which factions value which items. The scanner is a long-game tool for Vultures who have learned to walk home first.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

What is the Anomaly Scanner in Scavland?

A handheld device that detects spatial anomalies and rare artifacts in hazardous zones. It is essential for anyone farming high-value loot in southern Zalesye or Mist territory.

Where do artifacts spawn?

In anomaly zones, typically in high-danger areas: southern Zalesye near Thresholds, radiation zones, and deep bunker areas. The scanner detects them.

What do artifacts do?

They are valuable trade goods. Some have in-world mechanical effects. This wiki will confirm artifact properties as Early Access players test them. See traders for who buys them.

Can I use the scanner safely?

No tool makes Mist or radiation safe. The scanner tells you where anomalies are; it does not remove the danger. Enter prepared with filters, meds, and an extraction plan.
